It's that time of year: college football season is upon us once again! Win or lose, it is OK to support your team (even if they have been defeated more times than they've won). Whether this is your first year or you are a tried and true attendee, here are some things you should keep in mind this season.
1. Dress Appropriately
Gray, for example, is probably not the best color to wear to a game at 2:00 PM when it's 96 degrees out. Well, that is unless you are genetically blessed with the gift of not sweating (I don't think that is healthy though), but for us mortals, sweating is inevitable and thus gray should be avoided. When the temperature starts to drop, wear enough layers so you aren't miserable standing outside freezing your butt off. If you don't wear the coat you oh so needed, then it takes away from the game experience. As for when it's raining, there are two options. First, you can prepare by bringing a raincoat, sporting a pair of rain boots (if desired) and tote an umbrella around. Or, you could just run and hide in a covered part of the stadium when the sky opens up. It's up to you.
2. Tailgating
Go hard. But don't go so hard that you have to go home. Play some cornhole, eat a lot of food, blast some music, and get a little rowdy. Pump your friends up and pump yourself up for the game. Also, don't be shy; go befriend some strangers.
3. Cheer
Learn your school's cheers, chants, and songs. It will make the game more lively and help you get into the spirit if you need a little coaxing. If you need an excuse to scream because you've had a pretty stressed week, then just let loose at the game. Try to cheer positive things in hopes of these positive thoughts rubbing off on your team, even if they are losing.
4. Hydrate
Do what you got to do at the games just make sure you drink some H20 occasionally so you don't pass out from heat stoke or pass out for another reason...
Go out and support your school or any school for that matter. Let the kickoffs and tailgates commence!
