College students across the country are returning to campus after winter break. The holiday season is over, but winter is just beginning. The one thing that all students look forward to for the remainder of the winter are snow days. Snow is no longer festive, but rather annoying and a new obstacle to face while walking from class to class. Snow days keep us on our toes and reacting the same way every time.
1. "What's the radar look like?"
Sometimes, the predicted precipitation percentages just don't do it for you. Looking at the radar gives us a better idea of what kind of consistent weather to expect. Seeing if there will be lots of cloud coverage makes it more promising that it will snow on and off all night and into the next day. The radar provides us with a hope that percentages just can't provide.
2. *Checks Snow Day Calculator 1000 times*
This has been a classic move since middle school. Regardless of whether or not this method is accurate, it seems to be the go-to place for students everywhere.
3. "So...has anyone heard anything?"
Usually, talk of snow days happens after class is over for the day. Someone will start a rumor that it's a possibility and it spreads through campus like wildfire. After hearing the initial murmur, there must be an update presented as soon as new information is made available.
4. "What should we do tomorrow?"
Leave it to college students to get their hopes up about everything. Hearing the words "snow" and "day" together lead to the group chat blowing up about plans for the day off. Netflix, snowball fights, a spa day and sleeping are all possibilities...until you return to reality and realize you'll most likely be getting up for your 9:30 the next morning.
