Many of us have acne. (To those of you who don't, you're lucky).
And while it is an experience shrouded in insecurity, constant cleaning, and stress (I know, a thrilling cocktail), sometimes, other people make the experience even less bearable. Here are 4 things everybody who has had acne have heard before, and four things we'd honestly prefer to go without hearing.
1. "You should wash your face."
I mean, you really think I don't? That makes total sense. I just go home, soak in my own filth, and go to sleep. I should clean my face? Genius.
2. "Stop eating sugar."
We're human. We like sugar. Our acne shouldn't require us to become raw vegans.
3. "I never get acne."
Don't get me wrong: I'm happy you don't have to deal with the acne struggle. But, when somebody is struggling with something, emphasizing that you have it easier isn't exactly the most sensitive thing to do.
3. "Don't worry. It'll pass."
I mean, I know, but I don't live in the future. I live right now. And right now, my acne sucks.
