1.Video Games
Oh Sonic Heroes, Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights, and Diablo III how I’ve missed you. My second day back from college I successfully hooked up my Wii after I accidentally unplugged it and I started playing the games I missed playing. The best part about playing video games that I had not played for a few months or even for seven years is that I was much better at them. In Scooby Doo Night of 100 Frights, I got to areas that I only knew of through let’s plays and in Sonic Heroes, I beat my time on the hardest stage in the game—Bingo Highway. I am catching up on my gaming because my dorm room was too small for a TV and my Wii, the school wi-fi would not allow Diablo III, and because I no longer have to worry about my classes.
2. Final Grades
Some people may dread receiving their final grades, but I want to see them for this last semester. I took two upper division courses this semester and added Latin as a foreign language and I put a lot of effort into my classes. I felt that I applied the feedback I received on my papers to subsequent ones, I successfully led two group projects, and always kept up with my assignments. I focused solely on school this semester and I am ready to see the pay-off of my decision. I am not afraid to see my final grades because I know that I did not do poorly on my finals and I did not excessively procrastinate.
3. My Room
Although I loved my dorm room, it will never top my actual room. My actual room has a bigger bed, and best of all its own bathroom. Without fail I would knock my blankets onto the floor during the night as I slept on my tiny dorm bed. Now that I am back in my much larger bed falling blankets are not a problem and I can stay warm throughout the night. Additionally, I am glad to have my own bathroom again because I do not have to walk down a long hallway to get to it and it’s much cleaner than the communal bathroom. But the best part is that I do not have to hear screaming and running at midnight on a Saturday.
4. Debate Camp
The highlight of my summer is debate camp. I was a student and now I am an instructor, which I enjoy because I want to pass down what I have learned from debating to a new set of debaters each year. Debate camp is also where I get to work with the friends I have made in the community and where I get to travel the country helping debaters perfect their skills. I cannot wait to create innovative arguments, perfect older arguments, and watch students grasp new concepts. Work aside, I really want to win the Smash Bros. tournament this year, so I will be practicing for that as well.
