4 Spa Remedies To Save Your Skin
tasteforlife.com

Slowly but surely, it's turning into summer -- it's quite evident to everyone. The sun is scorching, tan lines are forming, and people are breaking out the sun screen. However, with dry heat comes an obvious change in weather conditions. Often, I find my skin subject to changing weather. Meaning my skin jumps on a crazy roller coaster filled with ups and downs of dry skin, black heads, and extreme redness. I don't like it, I have to adjust and somehow solve the scientific mystery that is happening to my skin.

Now, through extensive research from fashion/lifestyle magazines, I've looked for the perfect remedies to rescue my skin. Not only to glisten in the summer sun, but truly to protect the healthiness of my skin. Dealing with multiple skin types, I've had to battle fierce blackheads and bumpy read skin.

Also, I have learned to invest in natural ingredients -- seriously they're from God's Earth, they're good. Rather than slapping on some harsh chemicals, my skin is always radiating when I've invested in natural homemade remedies. Whether it's pineapples to pumpkins, these ingredients work wonders and leave my skin feeling like a baby's tooshie.

Taking minutes to concoct with simple, easy to find ingredients, facial masks are a quick go-to solution for skin issues. So, these are some facial remedies I've discovered over time that saved my skin from the summertime heat:

1. Cucumbers aren't just for your eyes!

Meant to reduce redness, this facial mask calms the skins, takes away irritation, and works amazingly for those with skin on the sensitive side.

Ingredients: 1/2 cucumber, 2 tbsp. aloe vera, and handful of chopped mint.

According to Seventeen Magazine, the instructions suggest to: "Peal and chop the cucumber. Using a fork, mash the cucumber, aloe, and mint into a gel-like substance, and then smooth all over your face. Leave on for twenty minutes and rinse with tepid water. The cooling cucumber and fresh mint will calm irritation and splotchiness; the aloe vera will leave skin hydrated and refreshed."

2. Soft skin of peach fuzz?

I love peaches, but oddly enough I love the way peach fuzz feels again my cheeks -- I know, it's weird. Well I was pretty stoked when this facial mask left my skin feeling as soft as peach fuzz!

Ingredients: juice of 1 lime, 2 tbsp. olive oil, and 1 chopped peach.

According to Seventeen Magazine, you should: "Peel the peach, then mash it up in a bowl and pour off juice. Add lime juice and oil to the mashed peach and mix with a fork. Apply a thin layer all over skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Peaches are one of the most hydrating fruits, lime helps brighten the skin, and olive oil softens dry patches to give your face a pretty gleam."

3. Glow like a shining star.

Let your skin glisten underneath the gorgeous summer sun. Those golden sun rays will sparkle along your olive skin beautifully.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, 1 tbsp. milk, and 1 tbsp. rice powder.

According to Seventeen Magazine, it recommends: "Crush strawberries with a spoon and mix with milk and rice powder. Gently scrub mixture onto face in a circular motion, then rinse. The rice powder, strawberry seeds, and lactic acid in the milk will slough away dull skin, leaving your face fresh. Plus, the vitamin C in the berries is super-nourishing."

4. Aren't pumpkins meant for Halloween?

Not necessarily, this magical facial masks is your saving grace at the worst of times -- when you have a major break out!

Ingredients: 1 tsp. canned pumpkin puree, 1 tsp. honey, 1 tsp. cider vinegar, 1 tsp. flour, and 1 egg

According to Seventeen Magazine, "Combine all of the ingredients. Using a fork, beat the mixture until smooth. Smooth a thin layer onto a clean dry skin and leave on for twenty minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry skin."

Well, ranging from solving a little skin dryness to conquering serious breakouts, these facial masks are my saviors. Whether its from changing weather or stress from everyday life, it's always good to invest in a little down time -- which to me is a facial mask, a Lush bath balm, and an enthralling book.

Enjoy, relax, and relish in your newly glowing skin!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
