Everybody has different opinions on relationships. Some people desperately want them, while other people could not care less about them at all. While I lie somewhere in the middle, I can be the first one to admit that being single in college can be good. Sure, it might not be your ideal experience, but there are good things about it.
1. Homework
It's a lot easier to get homework done when you aren't trying to spend time with a significant other on top of all of the time you want to spend with your friends. Relationships are responsibilities, and having one less responsibility to manage is never a bad thing.
2. Going Out
Going out with your friends is likely to be more fun than going out with just a significant other. There's no pressure to behave a certain way when you're with your friends, and you don't feel obligated to be by one person's side the whole night.
3. Dating
Dating different people is fun, but you obviously can't do it if you're in a monogamous relationship. I'll be the first to admit that I think of swiping on Tinder as more of a game than anything, and it's a fun way to pass the time sometimes. Plus, most people on Tinder are there for fun, not relationships, so it's a good way to find a fun night out.
4. Friends
When you're single, you can spend up to 100 percent of your available social time with your friends. You don't have to plan some of it with your friends and some of it with your significant other, and then more with everyone together. It makes planning way simpler.
While there are other reasons that being single in college can be fun, these four are the most universal. However, this isn't to say that being in a relationship in college isn't fun; it's just that neither is the "right" thing to do unless it's the right thing for you.
