Essential oils are all the rave right now. For good reason, lavender is one of the most popular. I’ve been using lavender essential oil for a year and a half now and I love it so much that I currently have five bottles. You know, some for the house, some for the purses, etc.
Essential oils can be used in a few different ways. You can diffuse it through a diffuser, take it orally, mix it into lotions or creams or put it on your body (depending on the oil, some people suggest always mixing it with a carrier oil). There are even necklaces that are diffusers; you just add a few drops of oil and you’re good for the day! You may even get a few compliments about how good you smell.
Here are four reasons why lavender is the essential oil to always have ready in your home.
1. It helps you to relax and calms stress and anxiety.
Lavender has historically been used to ease neurological issues like headaches, stress, anxiety and depression. Today, studies have caught up to history. They show great improvements on mood, without any side effects!
2. It improves your sleep.
Dr. Axe reported a study on college students’ sleep improving by over 60 percent. The time it took to fall asleep, restfulness, reduced symptoms of insomnia and the length of sleep were all taken into consideration.
3. Lavender can heal burns and cuts.
The antimicrobial properties of lavender have been healing burns throughout history. It also fights infections.
4. It is good for your skin.
From eczema to acne to age spots, lavender covers it all, most likely for its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties as well. Mixing lavender and coconut oil is good for moisturizing your skin as well. If you are acne-prone, dab the excess off, or mix frankincense and tea tree oils in as well.
For a time of studying or homework, I like to diffuse lavender near my desk. If I know I’m headed into a crazy week, I wear my diffuser necklace. I’ve really seen improvements in my typically-too-high stress level.
My husband was actually burned by 300 plus degree oil while working in a kitchen. His face immediately blistered. Someone suggested lavender oil to him, and after applying it a few times daily, his face was healed.
I share the personal testimonials because I want to alleviate any weariness; lavender has truly benefited me and I want it to do the same for you.
