I can admit this is kind of an odd topic to write about. I mean who truly enjoys re-watching shows when there are so many others out there. From Netflix and Hulu to Amazon and even cable there are so many ways to watch just about any show that you can think of. But I'm going, to be honest, and say that there are a few shows that I have seen multiple times and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. What shows? I'll just keep that to myself to keep from embarrassing myself.
1. You don't have to commit to something new.
I don't know about you, but I know when I start a new show I don't want to stop until I'm finished. Just like a good book, you never want to put it down. I literally become so involved that I cannot wait to go back and ignore the new "wife duties" that I have and curl up on the couch ignoring my husband and dog the rest of the night.
While that's a bit dramatic and hasn't happened yet, I also haven't committed to a new show in a while.
2. You can multitask.
When I replay my favorite shows I never worry about missing anything because I've already seen it. Of course, I'll obviously end up tuned in here and there. These are my favorite shows after all and I am re-watching them for reasons. But if it's my turn to make dinner or I'm slaving away with household chores because my husband is stuck with schoolwork piled to the ceiling, having my favorite shows in the background means I don't have to worry about being glued to the tv in fears that I'll miss something.
3. They're good shows to have on at night when you're laying down or going to sleep.
So, not all people are like me and enjoy falling asleep to the tv. I know plenty of people who are and this is for you. When I am ready to lay down, but not quite to go to sleep, I can put my favorite shows on and not worry about missing anything when I actually fall asleep. Because let's face it that when I actually get in my bed nine times out of ten I'm going to fall asleep less than an hour.
4. Somehow you always end up finding something that you may have missed.
I know sometimes I tend to miss things when I'm in the middle of some shows. You can't always control distractions. Or maybe there was something that I quite didn't understand the first time around, but makes perfect sense the next time. I love making missed connections that I just quite couldn't get around my head.
So, re-watching shows might not be for you and that's perfectly fine. But if you need some background noise that is not music but you don't want to put on that new show you're obsessed with and can't miss, go re-watch something that won't completely suck you in front of the screen. And since you made it this far I'll go ahead and give you one show I can consistently re-watch- my go-to bedtime show, probably the only show that I am not ashamed to admit, and the one that always has me laughing and catching new things- "Friends"!
