As a college student myself, I find that I often don't have time to take care of my hair. The longer my hair gets, the longer it takes to wash, style, and dry. Here are some tips that I have been trying to save myself some time on wash day while also taking care of my hair.
1. Wash and Go
If you do not have the time or the money to get your hair styled in braids, twists, or any protective style, this is the style for you. It is a lot quicker than twisting the hair and there is no styling involved when it comes to applying products. First, you wash your hair, deep condition, detangle (this is extremely important), apply your desired products, and let your hair air dry. Here's a quick tip: Wrap the hair in a t-shirt for a few minutes and remove to get rid of excess product and speed up the drying time.
2. Make Time for Your Hair
I know that many of us college students are busy with classes, studying, and finals but there is a way to schedule in time to care for your hair. Whenever you have some free time, take advantage of it. Try deep conditioning while studying or writing a paper. That way you're multitasking and getting multiple things done at one time.
3. Make sure to invest in hair care
Silk Scarves and headwraps are a great way to protect the hair during the cold winter months and especially during the night. Also, you can invest in accessories to change it up every now and then. This way, you won't get bored with your hair.
4. Watch YouTube Videos
YouTube has been the ultimate lifesaver for me when it comes to trying out new styles and figuring out ways to effectively moisturize and protect my hair. There are so many natural hair influencers on YouTube that have many videos dedicated to natural hair all while saving time and money (we all know this is important).
