As toddlers, television was an amazing concept to us. They transported us to different worlds and best of all, they kept us quiet for a little bit. For both parents and kids, watching television was a blessing if it was used in moderation. During this early stage of life, we came across many shows that we adored. Today, these shows can still have soft spot in our hearts; we loved to watch these shows and probably still know the different theme songs by heart.

Today, let's take a trip down memory lane to a time where the most amazing thing about TV was the flashing colors and sound.

1. Arthur

Who could forget watching this classic show? "Arthur," a cartoon based on the adventures of an aardvark, was both a beloved book series and a show. This show did not need supernatural settings or abilities to make it an interesting show. Instead, this show felt like a slice of ordinary life as it followed the life of Arthur and his friends. This show was always fun to watch growing up because we adored the books and because it taught wonderful lessons about friendship and morals. Overall, watching Arthur always made one have a wonderful kind of day.

2. Dragon Tales

Stepping away from the normal slice of life story, "Dragon Tales" was a fun show for those interested in fantasy and adventure. This show followed the adventures of two kids and their dragon friends as they explored Dragon Land. "Dragon Tales" was a lot of fun to watch with creative visuals and characters all set in a bright a colorful fantasy world. The characters and the interesting storylines kept us all coming back to this happy show that provided us with good moral lessons and a fantasy-based adventure.

3. Clifford The Big Red Dog

As an avid dog lover, this show was always one of my favorites. Not only did "Clifford" focus on the life of a girl and a dog, the dog himself was absolutely massive. Every fan of this child wished they could have a dog like Clifford, heck it still would be amazing to have a giant dog. Despite the inclusion of a mammoth-sized canine, Clifford was a calm show to watch. It made the viewer feel calm, a good break from the hustle and bustle of life. Plus the show was about dogs. What's not to love with this show?

4. VeggieTales

Ah everyone's favorite biblical produce! "VeggieTales" was such a staple of many childhoods. This series was just a lot of fun to watch. The humor, made not just for kids but for people of all ages, was fantastic and the stories were memorable. Heck, my mom and I can still sing most of the songs in this series. Who would have thought that a show about living grocery items would be so entertaining to watch? Despite the fact the animation has aged, "VeggieTales" is still a wonderful show to keep you entertained for hours.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
