After years of using straighteners and curling irons, it can really destroy your hair’s health (I know I’m guilty of doing it too). My hair is naturally curly and frizzy, so when I want to do something different, I pick up my straightener. But I found other ways to make my hair sleek straight without using the damaging heat and haven’t wanted to touch my straightener since. These are the best ways to make your hair look naturally curly or straight and not have to worry about hurting your hair.

1. When you want flawless curls on your way to class

This is one of the best ways to curl your hair when you’re in a hurry. You can put the pins in when you first get up and by the time you are finished getting ready, the pin curls should have worked their magic. It usually takes about fifteen to thirty minutes for the curls to form and it’s best to do it right after a shower when your hair is still damp.

2. When you want natural waves

If you’re going out on a date or out with friends, this is a great way to do your hair before you leave. The waves take about six hours to form in your hair, but it’s worth the wait. No one will be able to tell those aren’t your natural waves.

3. When you still want straight hair

This one is for the girls whose hair is always curly and frizzy—using a straightener all the time will ultimately damage your ends and make it harder to tame the frizz every day. Make sure you have a really good brush and comb to straighten your hair like this or it might not turn out the way you want it. You can also add some product while your hair is still wet to make sure it doesn’t get frizzy when it dries.

4. When a simple braid is enough

Braids are perfect for any day! This is the easiest way to do your hair without causing any harm to it and who doesn’t love a boho braid? Even if you’re not on your way to Coachella, a boho braid is a great hairstyle for whenever you want to change things up a little bit.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
