Safety should be your number one priority while operating your watercraft. You and your passengers will have a more enjoyable time if safety measures are in place. Here are four accessories that can make your watercraft safer to operate.

Emergency Backup Lights

If you take your watercraft out at night, you might find yourself stranded in the middle of the water. Mechanical failures can happen to even the sturdiest boats, and having emergency backup lights can work to your advantage. These lights will make you more visible to other boaters who might be able to offer you help. Your safety lights can also help other watercrafts steer clear of you and avoid a collision. There are red and green LED emergency lights on the market that are waterproof and easy to transport.

Pontoon Boat Ladder

Having one of these ladders will make it easier for you to board and disembark your watercraft. This will also help prevent injuries when trying to climb out of your boat. Online boat supply stores, like Pontoon Stuff, sell durable ladders that support up to 350 pounds of weight. Many of these ladders are made of aluminum, stainless steel and other materials that are designed to last. The best ladders on the market feature tall handrails and wide steps.

Waterski Flag

If you or anyone else on your boat plans to go waterskiing, having a waterski flag will be crucial. According to wikiHow, many states have laws that require these flags to be displayed whenever someone is waterskiing. These flags come in bright colors and can alert other boaters that a skier is in the water. The nylon material that’s used for waterski flags is designed to help them endure the windiest conditions. Getting a flag on a pole that includes a suction cup will be easier to display on your boat.

Waterproof Battery Charger

A waterproof battery charger can supply power to any battery-operated electronic devices that are needed for safety. You can get a charger that doesn’t generate sparks and can protect devices from short circuits and overheating. The best chargers are able to charge all types of batteries. You might even be able to find a charger with an advanced recovery mode that can regenerate deeply discharged and sulfated batteries. You’ll also want to get a charger that won’t overcharge your devices.

With the right accessories, you can enjoy a safer experience while out on the water. Some of these accessories are simple in design but have the power to keep you out of harm’s way.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
