As Thanksgiving came and went, I decided to sit down and really think about what I was thankful for. Initially, I thought of my family and the wonderful opportunities I've been given over the past year, but I wanted something more than the stereotypical things that everyone would be thankful for. I decided to think of the smaller things in life that I take for granted. These small insignificant events could change my whole day. You know what I'm talking about. They're the things that make you smile and think, "Ah, that's the stuff."
1. Unbuttoning your pants after a big meal.
2. Taking your shoes off after a long day.
3. Taking your bra off after a long day.
4. Hitting all the green lights. It’s even better when you’re in a rush.
5. Fresh snow on a holiday.
6. Getting the water out of your ear.
7. Getting the last blob of toothpaste out of the bottle.
8. When you’re pouring soda and the foam doesn’t overflow over the top of the glass.
9. Cleaning off your glasses and seeing the world in a whole new way.
10. When something is perfectly symmetrical.
11. Tearing off a check from your checkbook perfectly.
12. Finding money in your pockets.
13. Getting put stuck in a "pay it forward" line with no one behind you.
14. Peeling the film off a new appliance.
15. Taking your pants off after the bottoms of the legs get wet.
16. The sound of a newly opened soda.
17. The first drink of a new bottled drink.
18. Receiving a warm towel when you get out of the shower.
19. Cookies that are still warm from the oven.
20. When there’s no line in the bathroom when you really have to go.
21. Parallel parking on the first try.
22. Finding the last parking spot in a crowded lot.
23. February 2015.
24. When you stop pumping gas at the exact dollar.
25. When you go to the grocery store and your total comes out to an exact dollar.
26. When the volume on the T.V. stops at a product of five.
27. When you’re shuffling through radio stations and it stops exactly on the station you were looking for.
28. When there's just enough ink in the printer for your paper.
29. When there's one left of the shirt you want, and it's just your size.
30. Eating the crispy triangle piece of the square pizza.
31. Turning on the T.V. and it's already on your show.
32. The smooth surface of the new peanut butter jar.
33. When mowing the yard, the lines are perfect.
34. Realizing that the shirt you wanted to wear wasn't dirty.
35. Getting a letter in the mail that isn't junk mail.
Remember, it's the small things that make the world go round. Don't pass up these little successes when you're caught up in the large game called life. Take a step back and remember that every small thing that happens in life is a ripple in a pond.
