In the midst of finals and the rapid end of the semester, it is always good to stop what you’re doing for a second and look back at what you are grateful for! There is so much in this world that we are all so lucky to have, and I think sometimes we don’t realize how blessed we are to have the freedom to live. Here are 31 things I am thankful for!
1) My family. They’re always encouraging me and are people that will love me no matter what. Also, they are so much fun to spend time with during the holidays. During Thanksgiving, they fill the room with laughter and hilarious stories.
2) My friends. My friends are my backbone while at college. They are with me during my hardest times but are also with me during the funniest moments.
3) My pink slippers. Always so cozy to slip my feet in after trudging around campus.
4) The smell of autumn.
5) Hot chocolate with whip cream and chocolate drizzle. I get this about every day at the library café. Always makes my day better.
6) Candles. Candles are the subtle epitome of fall.
7) Christmas music. Let’s face it. I think now we can all conclude that November is when we should start listening to the jolly music of the holidays.
8) Nature.
9) Art.
10) My family’s ranch. We always spend Thanksgiving in our South Texas ranch. Embedded within the Texan countryside, this place I call my other home, is where I can escape to and hid from the tumultuous aspects of city life. I grew up here, and grew to love nature. This ranch is half of who I am.
11) The cool crisp river water that seeps into the land like a loving embrace between a mother and her child.
12) My imagination.
13) Love.
14) Movies. I always love to watch movies around this time of year! A great one that I recommend is The Holiday, staring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black!
15) My sister.
16) Study breaks. I know I’m not the only one who gets mentally exhausted and drained from spending so much time studying and working. To get to stop what you are doing and scroll on your phone watching funny videos is always a great study break.
17)Sleep. If I were to write a letter to Sleep, this is how it would go…
Dear Sleep,
I know I haven’t been able to spend much time with you lately, but I look forward to us reconciling again shortly. I must admit, I never truly realized how important you are to me! See you soon
Sincerely
Rachel
18) Cafes. There is no better place to study when you get tremendously sick of time spent studying in the lib.
19) Life. Life is an unexpected adventure where you never know where you are going to end up. Thrive off of that spontaneity and let yourself guide you through life.
20)God. He’s always with me. Someone I can always talk to.
21) FOOD.Enough said.
22) In particular, apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Yum, yum.
23) Teachers, because teachers are always there to help you with any questions you may have. They want you to succeed more than anyone else.
24) Texas Christian University. If it weren’t for TCU I wouldn’t be who I am today. I have made lifelong friends here and have created memories that will last a lifetime.
25) The time when I am not stressing out about my grades, because I know as long as you put effort into something you will never truly fail.
26) My grey sweat pants. I live in these pants.
27) The freedom that our founding fathers gave us when they wrote the Declaration of Independence.
28) Lights. I feel around this time of year; on the edge of Christmas everything seems brighter. The lights that speckle the streets at night grow brighter, and the stars that twinkle in the night sky dance with more brilliance.
29) Journaling or collaging. Hobbies of mine.
30) Going on for long walks. This helps to relax me and get my mind off the things I’m stressing about.
31) I am thankful for getting to live in this beautiful world, where I get to grow as a person every day! I am learning that its ok to make mistakes because you learn from them. I am thankful for fall because I always appreciate life so much at this time, because there is so much to look forward to, and the exciting part is that most of it is unwritten and is up for you to decide!
XOXO
