3 Reasons Asparagus Is The Worst Vegetable

Eat your greens, but not this one!

I was never a kid who disliked vegetables. Whenever my parents made dinner, I never hesitated to put broccoli, green beans, carrots, lima beans, etc. on my plate. The only exception? When there was asparagus. Even today, that is still the only exception. Here are five reasons why asparagus is the devil of the vegetable family.

1. The flavor

The most important part of the food is obviously the flavor, which asparagus is really not good at. Other vegetables are sweet or tangy, but asparagus is bitter and, to me, tastes like soapy tar. (Not that I know what that tastes like, but if I had a guess, it would taste like asparagus.)

2. The texture

Now, an asparagus's texture is just sad. The stalk is rock hard and difficult to bite through, and even if you manage to snap it off, it could break a tooth. Then there's the crown — a completely opposite feel. You may as well stick some tiny bird feathers in your mouth because that's what the crown feels like. Yikes.

3. The smell

Asparagus will stink up the kitchen, and it'll remain there for centuries. It smells like urine, and what's even worse, is that it'll make your urine smell like asparagus. All around unpleasant, right?

Asparagus, you are the weakest link.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
