Growing up in Edison, NJ, I never lost touch with Indian cinema, living through all the Bollywood classics. In fact, there were movies that I was surprised to hear people who weren’t of even of Indian origin enjoyed. So, Indian or not, check these movies out if you get the chance.
1. "3 Idiots"
A classic film that every person will enjoy. In fact, after my AP Chemistry Exam, our chemistry teachers showed this movie to the whole class. With a roller coaster ride of emotion and the endless messages, this movie has everyone on their seats edge for all two and half hours. Whether you’re about to die of laughter or you can’t seem to blink an eye as tears roll down your face, the college and personal life depicted in this movie are like no others.
2. "Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham"
So, if you’re not from India, this movie may seem a little odd to you, like the father banishing his son just for marrying a poor girl. But, let’s go a few years back in American lifestyles. This was just as common. A brother scheming just to reunite his family? Now that’s just heartwarming! This is definitely a feel-good movie, helping people draw meaning and importance to family bonds.
3. "Dil Chahta Hai"
Three friends. Unique love stories. Endless drama. We’re all at a stage in our life when we think that our current friends are our forever friends. Often times, we’re blinded by all the good and fun times that we fail to realize that life only gets harder from here. The decisions get more tough and relationships get more tested. However, even after years of no communication, true will always pick up where you left off.
Although I have seen countless other movies and would probably add even more movies to this list, these three are must see’s that guarantee enjoyment to any audience.
