Who doesn’t love new music to listen to, anyway?
From jazz to rap, my musical taste covers almost every spectrum available. I, like most people, have no shame in sharing my top 3 bands with anyone simply because I have hope that each band has affected you in similar ways.
1. Apollo Run
Apollo Run is one of my sacred music groups because if more people heard their music, there would be no doubt that they would hit top 50 artists in a matter of weeks. They are a rock/alternative band featuring several talented musicians behind each instrument. Their song “That’s How It Felt” and “Wide Eyes” and even “City Lights” are prime examples of pure bliss. Their distinct melodies and catchy choruses leave you wanting more. Their lead singer has a pitch-perfect voice that pleases any listener; despite your preference. Unfortunately, they have been making a new album for some time but with 3 albums already released, there is plenty of music to dive into.
2. Dry The River
A worthy follow-up is a personal favorite of mine, Dry the River. Introduced by my sister years ago, I still find myself listening to their work to this day. Something about this indie band separates them from other mainly because they are successful in both England and America. Dry The River offers more than just calming, emotional music; they get the listener involved. This is an excellent pick for someone who wants to hear real-life struggles that turn into a story like a song. This group also bases most of their music on Christianity which is a pull factor for me considering that I was surrounded with the gospel at a young age. Dry the River paints a picture of something greater than what most indie artists compose and is truly a treat to come across.
3. Sunfold
Sunfold is the final and least known band in my library but the likable thing about them is their music digs deep into my inter-musician that is rarely exposed. Their top hit “Oregon” is where picky listeners like me get hooked. Sunfold shows their talent through creative harmonies and upbeat bass lines that you will soon find yourself hitting the replay button over and over. The lyrics are contagious and the lead singer, who also doubles on guitar, is easy to follow which such an experienced, immaculate voice. Each member of this band proves their worth in their leading album “Toy Tugboats” and in my personal favorite “Sara The American Winter” chart. With less than 20,000 views on Youtube, Sunfold is a hidden gem that NEEDS to be part of your life. Whether you're having a rainy day or just in a mellow mood, Sunfold is your next ticket to happiness.
