Okay, so let's face it: we all have the potential to be bad humans from time to time. We may let a friend down that really needed us, forgot about plans that we have made, or run over someone's foot with a music stand rack (it happens more often than you think). We apologize for these things, and they are usually okay with some time for healing and time of reflection.

Despite doing these minor things that we think are so major in the moment, there are things that we as humans should never do. No, I'm not saying don't do these things because of religion, orientation, or anything like that. I'm saying don't do these things because we are all equally HUMAN. Humans should not treat other humans in these ways.

1. Lying

This is an absolute no go. Lying about the things you have, your social status, or the circumstances you're in doesn't make you any cooler. It raises you on a goddess level for your 15 minutes of fame, but after that you'll burn into the depths of the ground. There is no point in lying to someone about anything because not only will they find out later, it will affect your future with them and your circumstances.

2. Taking Advantage of People

Why? What edge does this give you long term? It doesn't. So stop taking advantage of people. Whether you believe it or not, there are still people in this world that do everything in their power to give people the benefit of the doubt. There are still people out there that are unconditionally nice to others, look at the glass half full with optimism, and place their hearts vulnerable to people hurting them and using their niceness to cheat their way through life. They don't deserve people like the ones who use them for their kindness. You don't deserve the good test grade or the pleasure that comes from taking advantage of people. It ultimately leads to the embarrassment of the people with the open hearts, then they build walls, and the amount of people with unwarranted kindness diminishes.

3. Mooching Off of People

It's one thing to take advantage of people's hearts, but ultimately costing them money is not okay. I'm not saying don't borrow money from people, but please be smart about this. Pay them back, keep your word (refer to number 1), and don't borrow any if you know you can't or unsure if you're able to return it. It's hard for people to trust others, especially when it comes to money, but they only won't trust you if you give them a reason not to trust you. So, don't give them a reason, and don't mooch off of people.

You may be wondering, I'm a moral human, why is she reminding me of these things? I'm not calling you out on your humanity specifically, but if the shoe fits, wear it. These are immoral things that people can do without the police hunting them down, and in my heart, these things can be just as soul shaking and mind boggling. If one, two, or all of these things have been done to you, I am deeply sorry. I can say that I know how you feel and they shouldn't be done in the first place. If you're finding yourself guilty of one of these things, use this as your reality check. We are not put in this world to hurt people. Don't be the reason that we build walls around our hearts.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
