Some gifts never ever go out of style.
1. Money
Because what broke college student is going to say that they don't need money? Expenses in college always come up, so sending money won't hurt one bit. If you're uncomfortable with giving cash, gift cards are the perfect alternative. A Walmart or Target gift card will save a college student's life when it's time to shop for groceries and so much more. Don't forget about gift cards to restaurants, as well! There's practically a gift card for anything that you can think of. And I'm here to tell you that they will always be the way to go when you are unsure of what to get (or you're just not the best at gift-giving).
2. Tickets.
Tickets to their favorite artist's concert, a sports game, an amusement park,or any other special event make stellar gifts that any college student would be ecstatic to receive. Here's a tip: If you're unsure of what kind of music It might even land you a special shout out on Twitter and maybe they'll finally accept your friend request on Facebook.
3. Go the Sentimental Route
A photo collage of your favorite memories is wonderful gift, especially if you know your college student is passionate about photography or scrap-booking. If you have a way with words, write a heartfelt letter expressing how proud you are of them, and offer genuine encouragement. Every college student needs to hear that, especially around finals week, when stress induced panic attacks and mental breakdowns are common. Log on to your nearest Twitter machine, type in "finals week" and you will see what I mean. A simple "Keep up the good work!" and "I am so proud of you! " can really motivate a college student, because the grueling and merciless pressure of academia can literally drive them to brink of breaking all the way down. But hooray for higher education!
4. Career Advice
Advice that doesn't sound like a lecture and is actually helpful is priceless! As a senior in college, I am constantly on the hunt and seeking advice from people who are established in my field of interest. Even if you aren't in the industry of your college student, you may know some who is. Don't underestimate your network and hesitate to put them in contact with people you know because college students need all of the help they can get when it's time to start applying for salary jobs.
