Raise your hand if you're a broke college student...

I think everyone can agree we love giving presents to our friends and family, but this year I checked my bank account and started trying to figure out what cafeteria has the best combo exchange I can give.. oh no.

I am here to help everyone in the same situation as me and give you 3 DIY Christmas present ideas that I have made throughout the years for my family and friends. All of these are under $10 and could be under $5 if you utilize the craft store coupons circulating on the internet.

1. Wall art

Wall art is very popular now and if anyone is like me your entire wall is filled with paintings. A very simple gift to make is a watercolor picture to hang up on your loved one's wall. Go buy some watercolor paper and watercolors at Michaels (there are some cheap watercolors don't worry) and start creating! Tip: When I make artwork for my friend's walls I try to get their "vibe" by looking at their Instagram or Twitter.

Here are just a few of the ones I have made. It can be as simple as you want, and it will be special to the person you give it to because it's homemade!

2. Wrap around beaded bracelet

A very simple idea but my friends absolutely love these.

Instead of just a simple beaded bracelet, I always make wrap around beaded bracelets. I take plastic cord (I buy it at Walmart) and start stringing the beads away to make a giant loop. The one below is the one I wear every day!

Always remember to put nail polish at the end of your tie or it will come undone and all the beads will go flying around your room...no this has not happened to me:)

3. Personalized Mix Tape

This is a cute idea for anyone in your life in my opinion. I made this when one of my best friends Madeleine turned 16 so she had a little "throwback" way to listen to music in her car. I started with writing down songs I know she would like or ones that reminded me of her.

And then I found one of my dads' thousands of blank CDs and burned a playlist for her from my computer. There are lots of how to videos about this online! Then I decorated the CD cover and gave it to her for her birthday. This would be a great Christmas present to give to anyone for Christmas and personally, I love CDs and listening to them in my car. It is a fun personal idea to share music and let someone know you care.

Hope this helps, Happy Creating!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
