If you didn't already know, the Amazon has been on fire for the past month. These fires are intentional; a greedy effort from the Brazilian government to clear land for economic gain.
A quarter of the rainforest has already been destroyed—a chunk the size of Texas.
I'm really mad about this, so I have already done all three actions below. It literally took five minutes.
1. Sign this petition with over four million signatures.

A lawyer who lives in the heart of the Amazon has created a petition to investigate the causes of the fire. If accomplished, this will lead to direct legal action agains the corrupt parts of Brazil's government.

2. Donate the cost of a Starbucks to RAN.

Rainforest Action Network (RAN) has been around since 1988, dedicated to protecting the rainforests. Any donations made this month and for a period onward are being reserved exclusively for the trauma situation in the Amazon. Donations will help protect land at risk and help indigenous peoples and species recover.
I donated $10, the cost of two days of my Starbucks order.

3. Download Ecosia.
Ecosia is a search engine you can add to your Chrome browser. They have legally committed to planting a tree for every 45 searches that are made. The average student makes 10 google searches per day, so in less than a week you will have planted a tree in an at-risk area like the Amazon.
