We all have that first job that is not like the other jobs we have worked in the past. I have babysat children, busted tables, hosted restaurants, and made pizzas for work, but nothing compared to my first real 8-5 job. There are so many things that will run through your mind on those beginning days of that job. Here are just a few:

1. 8 hours is a long time... I watched 8 hours of Netflix yesterday.

2. Why do back-to-back meetings exist?

3. It is either freezing cold or too hot. There seems to be no in between.

4. I cannot believe I have to look presentable every day.

5. How do people get up this early all the time?

6. Can people’s brains really function properly this early?

7. Coffee is like a lifeline.

8. Lunch is so far away.

9. I have to actually talk to people on the phone…

10. Leaving a voicemail is still a thing?

11. What do I do with an entire hour for lunch? - I was lucky to get lunch in the 15 mins I had between class at college.

12. It is too nice of a day to be inside working.

13. It is too crummy of a day to not be napping.

14. Yesterday was Monday, but why isn’t tomorrow Friday?

15. People email back and forth more than I text my own friends.

16. I am terrified that there is a grammatical error in my email.

17. I reread my email 7 times, but I am still scared to send it.

18. What happens if I dial the wrong number & call the wrong person?

19. Everyone is so adult here.

20. There are so many stacks of papers.

21. It is hard to sit in one place for so long.

22. At least I get paid to be here all the time.

23. Meetings seem endless.

24. I might have only been working here a week, but this is the only place I go.

25. I’m dead by the end of the day.

26. It is understandable why grown-ups don’t want to do anything after work.

27. I am practically an official adult.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
