Club volleyball — full of friends, foes, road trips, injuries, and non-stop playing. You missed out on parties, dates, and so many days of school, but it was so worth it. Club volleyball was your first love; it was your life. Here are 27 things that all club volleyball players can relate to.

1. Waking up at 4:45 am to drive to a tournament over an hour away.

2. Missing the same classes every Friday in order to account for travel time.

3. Getting a new t-shirt every tournament to save the memories.

4. Wearing the same, sweaty headband for months because it was "good luck."

5. Writing essays on the floor of the convention center.

6. Getting to travel to super cool places like Denver and Las Vegas.

7. Needing to wake up early to ref the 8 am game on a Sunday.

8. Finally nailing both your jump topspin serve AND your jump float serve.

9. Listening to some awful renditions of The National Anthem.

10. Sending pictures of your new jerseys to all of your friends from your school team.

11. KT tape and ankle braces were your real best friends on the team.

12. Your weird rituals that you always had to do before serving.

13. Getting super excited when a college recruiter was watching your game.

14. Lowkey judging other girls based on their knee-high socks.

15. Having absolutely no break in between high school season and club season.

16. Your parents wearing their "Volleyball Mom" and "Volleyball Dad" shirts to every tournament.

17. Flipping out over new shoes every season (and the smell of them).

18. Getting two hours of sleep on a school night because you didn't get home until 11 pm from practice.

19. Not seeing the light of day at all during the tournament.

20. Your parents packing a cooler full of food because the convention centers charge $20 for a hamburger.

21. Knowing all of the referees by name and how to deal with each of them.

22. Your coach prohibiting you from drinking soda and eating fried food.

23. Jamming your fingers one, two, or eighty-seven times.

24. Running millions of suicides after a really bad tournament.

25. Basically wearing a snowsuit to the tournament because the convention center is freezing cold.

26. Having at least three different "cliques" on the team

27. Your last game ever (unless you were planning to play for college).

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
