26 Things I Miss While Away From College

I miss my home away from home.

It's almost that time of year, again... That's right. School. More importantly, going back to the life as a college student.

We've relaxed, we've spent time away from our college friends, and now it's time to go back. So in order to celebrate (WOOHOO!), I've come up with a list of 26 things I've missed (and you probably have, too) while spending the summer away from my beloved college campus.

1. MY FRIENDS!!!

2. The convenient food.

3. Having study parties.

4. Not worrying about a clean room.

5. Going to class (I'm weird, I know).

6. Having a set schedule.

7. The (kind of) free gym membership.

8. Having movie marathons.

9. Singing loudly in the car with friends.

10. Meeting new people.

11. Freedom to do what I want, when I want.

12. Taking naps all the time and not feeling bad about it.

13. Going to football games!!!

14. Having girls' night with my besties.

15. Taking showers at ungodly hours of the night.

16. Laughing with my roommate.

17. Getting to tell my parents all the cool things I've done.

18. Showing up to class with no makeup and pajamas on, and not caring what people think.

19. HAVING CLASSES WITH MY FRIENDS.

20. Randomly deciding to go to the beach 'cause why the hell not?

21. Seeing myself improve in my studies.

22. Feeling like I'm actually doing something that will make my life better.

23. Going to events the University has paid for so I get to go for free.

24. Eating delicious, unhealthy food.

25. Feeling accomplished when I get a good grade on a paper I worked really hard on.

26. Feeling homesick instead of longing to go back to college.

So, there you have it. My reasons for missing being away at college might not be exactly like yours, but they're probably very similar. I hope you can relate, and wish you all the best this semester. :)

Being Invisible The Best Super Power

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
