25 Ways To Recognize A Pisces

Essentially, we're Superman disguised as Clark Kent.

1. We're fantastic listeners.

From rants about incompetent drivers to thoughts about prejudice to complaints about the lack of your favorite ice cream at the store, we're there for you.

2. Like owls purportedly are, we are very wise.

Except we're fish, and we actually use words. Point still stands; we give great advice.

3. Our patience is boundless.

Given that we're the last sign, we're used to waiting.

4. We blow out the candles from late February to late March.

Because I don't subscribe to that "thirteenth sign" nonsense.

5. The tendency to observe instead of contributing to a discussion.

You know, like Hawkeye watches scenarios from afar. But, you know, cooler.

6. Everyone assumes we're docile little lambs made of sugar and spice and everything nice.

We're nice, kindly individuals for sure, but we're not lazy or dispassionate.

7. Except when it comes to crying. We're always seen as the crybabies.

If I hear someone describe us fish with the word "sensitive" one more time...

8. That said, we do have strong emotional reactions.

We feel things very deeply, both good and bad, and we're usually quite obvious about it.

9. Basically, we're open books.

(No) puh-puh-puh poker face.

10. Despite our excellent ability to connect with others, we have a limited tolerance for exposure to social situations.

This crazy world can be exhausting and overwhelming sometimes.

11. We put ourselves last on our list of priorities.

Oftentimes we have to be reminded to stop and take care of ourselves because we're so busy helping others and checking off items on our to-do list.

12. Speaking of which, we're diligent, hard workers.

We might not be the head honcho, but our contributions are essential.

13. Do you know a Leap baby? They're one of us!

And they're also ridiculously tired of being asked how it feels to be one fourth of their actual age.

14. A particular proclivity for the arts, like writing, reading, drawing, painting, music, acting, and such.

This isn't always true, but when it is, these are the things we pursue in our hobbies and often our careers.

15. Random factoid: it's highly probable we'll be left-handed!

As a member of this population, I can attest to how obnoxiously full of desks, scissors, can openers, and other such common items made for righties, this world is.

16. We're dreamers.

We shoot for the stars (signs). Ha, ha. I promise we're actually funny, too.

17. Our tendency to be extremely trusting.

This can either be wonderful or awful; we form strong bonds in relationships, but when they break, it's devastating.

18. We're deceptively stubborn.

All this blathering on about emotionality and giving belies a remarkable ability to dig our heels in.

19. Our sign is often mispronounced, so we're kind of used to it.

"You're a 'Pis-keys'? Coo!"

20. I promise it's not a funny "H" we're drawing.

It's our little symbol.

21. A high level of intelligence.

And no, I'm not saying that we're a bunch of stereotypical glasses-sporting nerds wandering around. There are many kinds of intelligence.

22. It's pretty common for us to be a lil' gullible.

Did you know they wrote it on the ceiling?

23. When you first meet us, you'll probably get the impression that we're super shy.

And sometimes we are! Other times, we're actually crazy talkative people disguised as the quiet ones.

24. We're proud to share our zodiac sign with some pretty awesome people.

Such as Einstein, Shaq, Kesha, Oprah, Kurt Cobain, Bryan Cranston, Alan Rickman, Simone Biles... the list goes on and on.

25. And most of all, we know that no matter the stereotypes or jokes, we're actually pretty damn strong, funny, brave, special people.

And you'd be lucky to have one of us in your life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
