When this article is published, I will have been graduated for almost a week. Commencement was held on December 16 at the PNC Arena and I'm now a proud alumna of NC State. However, starting at 8:30 in the morning had me feeling some type of way. Here is the roller coaster of emotions that I felt on my graduation.
1. "I've earned this. I. Am. The. Best."
2. "I shouldn't be here, I'm still a baby! I think another four years is needed."
3. "Master's degrees are a thing. I can do that!"
4. "Ugh, but more tests."
5. "When are we going to start moving? I've been in this tunnel for, like, three hours."
6. "Oh, it's only been 30 minutes."
7. "I need to cherish this moment."
8. "Oh man do I not look good in the robe. They wrinkle so easily!"
9. "Finally, moving."
10. "What if I cry?"
11. "Who am I kidding, we all know I won't cry."
12. "Hello, administrators I've never seen before."
13. "Wow, that's impressive. They're saying everyone's names perfectly and without hesitation. I couldn't do that."
14. "I feel so empowered by this speech. She's really speaking to my soul right now."
15. "Yes! I do need to make the people who have helped support me proud!"
16. "Why are we giving our families a round of applause? They weren't the ones who did the all-nighters and 2 a.m. study sessions."
17. "Well, they did take the calls where I had a mental breakdown."
18. "Oh, stand up?"
19. "Sit down."
20. "Stand up, again?"
21. "All right, we're sitting down again."
22. "Yes I DO deserve a round of applause."
23. "No. No no no. I can't be turning my tassel."
24. "Left or right?"
25. "I did it. I have a degree."
Congratulations to the Class of 2016!
