Last week, I started working as an intern in an office. In some ways, it is definitely what I expected, but in other ways it is not what I expected working in an office to be like at all. Here are some of the thoughts I had during my first day as an intern:

1. I have arrived!

2. Am I even prepared for this job?3. Oh well, if I don’t know anything I’ll just play the “I’m just the intern” card.

4. Paper work is such a pain to fill out.

5. Can’t tax forms just have a box to check that says “I’m a college student” and then that’s it?

6. Oh good, I’m being introduced to coworkers!

7. Am I going to be introduced to every single person in this office?

8. I was just introduced to every single person in this office.

9. Could my desk be any further back in the corner of this room?

10. At least they didn’t put my desk in the bathroom.

11. Actually, where is the bathroom?

12. I’ve walked around this entire office and haven’t seen a single bathroom.

13. I can’t ask where it is. That would make me look silly.

14. I’m never going to get to pee again!

15. Just don’t drink any water, you’ll make it through the day.

16. It’s lunch time, so I can take a break!

17. I don’t have any friends in the office to eat lunch with..

18. I’ll eat my lunch at my desk like that kid in high school that ate lunch in the bathroom.

19. Also I’m too scared to go use the microwave, so I’ll eat my food lukewarm.

20. This work actually doesn’t seem that challenging.

21. Are they giving me easy work or do I actually know what I’m doing?

22. Just received a compliment on my work. I totally know what I’m doing.

23. Wait… it’s the end of the day now? I feel like I blinked and it was over.

24. I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to come back tomorrow!

25. I have to pee so bad though.

UPDATE: I found the bathroom my second day of work.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
