25 Things Every Big Sister Learns From Their Little Brother Before They Turn 25

Being the oldest of my siblings, I try my best to set a good example for them.

Whether it's by doing what my parents ask, working my butt off in college, standing up for them, or even just being myself; I try so hard to make them proud to call me their big sister.

But I've recently spent my entire winter break back at my parent's house and realized how many things my younger brother has actually taught me. Whether it's little things like forgetting to pick up my socks or staying true to myself, my little brother is wiser than I may realize.

1. He teaches me not to care about what people think of me.

2. There's always time for one more episode.

3. Always be kind to others.

4. Because you never know what someone could be going through.

5. He reminds me to appreciate the small things.

6. Treat everyone with respect.

7. Drinking wine from the bottle is the best way to drink it. (His 'wine' may be sparkling grape juice, but still.)

8. Little brother hugs are almost as good as hugs from your mom.

9. Always be yourself.

10. Even if that means being goofy and driving your parents crazy.

11. Stay humble and don't get cocky.

12. He teaches me to always be honest and tell the truth.

13. Even if I don't believe in myself, he believes in me.

14. Every person on this planet is unique, and that's okay.

15. If you forget to pick up your socks, they can't get washed and you'll be stuck wearing dirty socks.

16. He reminds me the importance of loyalty.

17. If I ever feel alone, he will still hold my hand and sit with me in silence until I'm ready to talk.

18. No matter what happens, my little brother will have my back.

19. It's okay to fail, as long as you keep trying.

20. Star Wars is actually pretty cool.

21. He notices more than I realize.

22. Siblings are the best form of best friends.

23. "Just one more game", rarely means one game.

24. It's always possible to laugh and smile so much your face hurts.

25. But most importantly, my little brother has taught me that I will always be loved.

Thank you Bub for always believeing in me.

I love you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
