24 Things That I Am Thankful For Now That I Am 24

Yesterday I turned 24 and honestly, I’m really happy about it. Yes, there are so many things that come along with “getting old” and being a “real adult” in your 20’s. But there are so many things that are great about growing up and aging, too!

Here are 24 things I am thankful for now that I am 24 years old.

1. Friendships that have lasted.

2. Pizza never failing to brighten my day

3. My parents who continue to love and support me.

4. Relationships that didn’t last but ended for the better.

5. Having the chance to be selfish with my time.

6. That really great song that became my favorite all those years ago and still makes me happy when I hear it. (P.S. - It’s Jason Mraz’s ‘The Remedy’)

7. Sunflowers.

8. A day spent shopping at Target.

9. Having a job that I love.

10. Watching cooking and home design shows and trying out new things.

11. Getting the opportunity to experience in my lifetime the magical... Unicorn Frappuccino!

12. Dance parties with my best friends.

13. Traveling without a plan.

14. Country music that is perfect for any mood.

15. Learning from bad choices or decisions.

16. A deeper appreciation for baseball and hockey.

17. Treating myself to a spa day.

18. Admitting that I like wearing my glasses more than my contacts.

19. Embracing quiet moments alone when I get to read or write.

20. Those family and friends who comfort me with the simple phrase, ‘“It will be okay.”

21. Accepting your body and being confident with how you look.

22. Art. A day spent at an art museum is my favorite.

23. One Tree Hill streaming on Netflix.

24. Puppies! I mean, who doesn't love puppies?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
