Here's to the kids that were (and always will be) mom and dad's little angel. The kids that never have to worry about who is the favorite kid. The kids that get called spoiled on a regular basis. Here's to the ones who never share food. This one's for you.
- When you first meet people one of the first things they ask is: "You're an only child, aren't you?"
- They say, "Oh, so you were enough for your parents."
- Or they say, "So, your parents just didn't want any more kids?"
- You don't handle teasing well.
- People automatically assume you're spoiled.
- Okay, maybe you were a little spoiled... But only a little.
- You're suffering from "only child syndrome." Or so people say.
- When you were growing up you had no one to blame things on.
- You always get too much attention from your parents.
- But you expect to be the center of attention, always.
- You've never been good at sharing.
- When you were little you dreamed of what it would be like to have siblings.
- You can never decide if being an only child is a curse or a blessing.
- Your personal space is important to you, and people never fully understand.
- "Playing well with others" isn't in your vocabulary.
- Your house is just a huge shrine to all of your accomplishments.
- Family dinners are uncomfortably quiet.
- You cry a little bit when people post pictures of their siblings on "National Siblings Day."
- You get annoyed when your parents talk to you when you just want to be alone.
- You treat your friends as if they're your siblings.
- You never have to worry about someone outshining you.
- As a child you were an expert at playing alone/entertaining yourself.
- You constantly think you’re never good enough.
- But you never have to worry about who's the favorite child.
