Long Island summers are the best kind of summers. They are nothing short of magical, and everyone who has experienced one knows it. And if you haven't experienced one, well then you're totally missing out! Right now almost every Long Island student who is away at college is sitting in his or her dorm room, daydreaming about how amazing their summer is going to be. They always have…

1. Day trips to Jones Beach and Fire Island

Starting with the Memorial Day Air Show.

2. And going to Jones Beach Theater for a concert

No better place than a concert at the beach.

3. Going to the favorite restaurant with friends

Shout out to Crazy Beans in Stony Brook!

4. Eating BEC’s for breakfast every morning

The best way to start a day.

5. Stocking up on bagels

Because you’ve been going through withdrawal since Spring Break.

6. Outings to Montauk

The End.

7. And Manhattan

The City.

8. Trips to Ralph's

And being grateful that you are not the one behind the counter.

9. And Splish-Splash

The best water park there is.

10. And Adventureland

Filled with so many childhood memories.

11. Getting Slurpees from 7-eleven

They are cheap and delicious.

12. And Dunkin’ runs on the daily

“An extra large iced coffee please?”

13. While jamming to Billy Joel in the car

No better music.

14. And the free tribute concerts in the park

Free is one of my favorite words.

15. Going to Ducks games

Don’t duck with us.

16. Eating GOOD pizza

Because we have the BEST pizza.

17. Backyard family barbecues

One of the best smells in the world.

18. Walking along the docks in Northport and Port Jeff

And eating ice cream

19. Picnics at Avalon

And walking to the Labyrinth.

20. Going to the closest beach and watching the sunset

No better place to watch the sunset.

21. Then going to the diner

and not iHop or Denny's.

22. And lastly, on Wednesdays, we go to Carvel

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
