Dogs are a gift from God. (They’re even mentioned many times throughout the Bible.) They are our fur babies; our running partners; our four-legged family members. Dogs are there for you when the rest of the world is against you. They are the most selfless, caring creatures on earth. Below are just a few reasons why dogs are known as "man's best friend."

1. They don’t care what you look like.

Their loyalty doesn't depend on how good your hair looks or whether or not you've showered today.

2. They are always excited to see you.

Even when you’re mad at them.

(But then again, who could stay mad at that face?)

3. They don’t care what kind of job you have or how much money you make.

They don’t care about your career or finances — as long as you provide toys, treats and lots of love!

4. They won’t judge you for being lazy.

Because they love getting to spend lazy weekends with you.

5. They don't care if you use all the hot water every time you take a shower.

They don’t even mind that you hog the bathroom for an hour every morning.

6. They’ll never hate your cooking.

They aren’t picky eaters.

7. They’ll never get mad if the house isn't clean or if the laundry isn’t done.

They rather you spend more time with them anyways.

8. Their goal is to comfort you, even on the worst days.

They can sense your mood. They know when you need them.

9. They are great listeners.

Don't worry — your secrets are safe with them.

10. They don’t care about that thing you did three years ago.

Humans have a habit of holding grudges. (We all have those screenshots we’ve saved as “evidence.”) But while people may dig up your past, dogs only dig up your yard.

11. They are always willing to lend a helping paw.

Even when you didn't ask for it.

12. They are satisfied with the little things in life.

Dogs are easily amused. (And easily distracted.)

13. They will put their lives in danger to save you.

Dogs appoint themselves as guardians of their household (no matter how small and/or fluffy they may be). They will do whatever it takes to keep their owners safe.

14. They are always there to keep you company.

Even when you’re sick and too contagious to leave the house, they make sure you're never alone.

15. They are not afraid to kiss you with morning breath.

(Their morning breath is probably worse than yours anyway.)

16. Their cuteness is superior to ours.

Especially after they’ve done something wrong.

That’s when they pull out the puppy eyes.

17. They make teeny-tiny furry babies.

18. They’re never too busy to spend time with you.

Even if you just want to lay around and watch TV.

19. They won’t sit and stare at their phone when they hang out with you.

They deserve your undivided attention.

20. Your happiness always makes them happy.

They hate seeing you upset. The happier you are, the happier they are.

21. They love you no matter what.

And only ask for your love in return.
