21 Things I Wish I Would Have Known My Freshman Year

Entering my freshman year of college was a whole new adventure for me. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. Looking back, there are so many things that I wish I would have known to make my experience better. While not knowing what was going to happen helped me learn, there are still some things I wish I would have known.

1. Having early classes is not easy.

2. You don't have to get As in all of your classes.

3. You don't have to be friends with everyone.

4. But you should be nice to everyone you meet.

5. Go to office hours when you need help, not after you need it.

6. Go to the library when you're not busy.

7. Don't buy textbooks from the bookstore.

8. You don't need to buy brand new books, used will be fine.

9. You can't expect to not be homesick.

10. Get involved in what actually interests you.

11. You don't have to figure everything out right away.

12. Find out where you can use student discounts.

13. Eating healthy is important.

14. Don't buy books until after the first week of class.

15. Go to as many sporting events as possible.

16. Don't skip classes so often.

17. Get work done early.

18. Seriously, don't procrastinate.

19. Get out of your comfort zone.

20. Take advantage of study groups.

21. You have a clean slate, you don't have to be the person you were in high school anymore.
