Time flies in the blink of an eye.

As my 20th birthday approaches rather quickly I cannot believe how quickly time flies. I remember my first day of kindergarten, learning to ride a bike, family vacations, prom, graduating high school all just like it was yesterday, Throughout these 20 years I have learned a lot. Even though I know I have a lot more to learn here are 20 things I've learned in 20 years.

1. Don't rush growing up.

When I was just a little girl I had an overwhelming desire to be big. I was always rushing to reach the next milestone. I really wish I didn't rush it all because now I look bad on the moments that are now just memories and wish I could experience them all over again.

2. Take risks.

Coming from a girl who always seems to be playing it safe I think it's important to take risks. Push yourself. Take a step out of your comfort zone. You never know where it will take you.

3. Listen to your parent's advice.

When you're young the last thing you want to do is agree with your parents but overtime you begin to realize they were right 99% of the time. They love you and only want the best for you. So even if the truth hurts make sure you listen.

4. Be kind.

Being kind is one of the most important things in life. Smile at people you walk by on the street. Be polite. Always say please and thank you. A little kindness goes a long way and you never know, you could make a difference.

5. Cherish your friends.

Throughout your life friends might come and go but that's okay because no matter what that friendship was what you once wanted. Some friends might teach you lessons others are life blessings. Someday you'll meet friends who you know will be yours forever and that's pretty great.

6. Embrace your weirdness.

Being different is what makes you you. So be weird. Do things that make you stand out. Find people who have the same weird qualities you have.

7. Do what makes YOU happy.

It's important to do what makes you happy in life no matter what other people think. In the end this is your life and your happiness is the most important thing.

8. Enjoy High School because it flies by.

High School was honestly probably the best four years of my life this far. I found my passion. I had fun. I smiled. I laughed. I spent time with my best friends. I achieved my goals. Enjoy these years and make lots of memories.

9. Remember everything happens for a reason.

When life throws you a curve ball and you're going through tough times it's important to remember everything happens for a reason. I know sometimes it just feels like you can't win but it's important to just always stay positive because I truly do believe everything happens for a reason.

10. Take a million pictures.

Pictures capture moments in time. These little pieces of paper are made of so much meaning and are constant reminders of the best moments of our life. So take lots of them because one day you'll enjoy looking at them more than you know.

11. Remember family is everything.

Family is the most important thing. Hug your parents. Tell them you love them. Try not to constantly fight with your siblings. No matter who comes and goes in your life family is forever.

12. It's okay to cry.

Sadness is okay. It's okay to let out your stress. It's okay to cry over heartbreak or a bad day. It's just important to remember you're strong and you can bounce back from anything.

13. Love a lot.

Make sure your life is filled with love. Fall in love. Love your job. Love your house. Love your life.

14. Enjoy the little things.

Because one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things.

15. Be silly.

Do dumb things. Make people laugh. Life's too short to always be serious.

16. And laugh a lot.

Enjoy the moments where you're laughing so hard your stomach hurts because those moments are so important.

17. Live with no regrets.

Don't dwell on the past just focus on the future. Travel. Do spontaneous things. Make lots of memories you'll never forget.

18. Remember life is crazy.

Life is nuts. You'll go through things you never thought you would. Good and bad. Sometimes you'll even feel like your life's a realty show. But it's all worth it.

19. So make lots of memories.

Make your life memorable. Make your mark on the world. Do things you won't ever forget. You only live once.

20. Because before you know it you'll be 20.

Year after year life flies by. So enjoy every moment.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
