The 2016 NFL Draft, although it feels like it was just yesterday, has proven to have been one of the best classes in recent memory, especially when it comes to top-end stars. However, some have admittedly produced better than others, so here's how the teams would draft had they known what we know today.
1. Los Angeles Rams-Carson Wentz, QB, NDSU
Original Selection-Jared Goff, QB, California
While the selection of Goff has not been a bust yet, he has not yet produced to the MVP-caliber status that Wentz has shown thusfar. The Eagles quarterback has led his franchise to an 8-1 start in 2017, while Goff's Rams sit at 7-2, although his statistically horrible rookie campaign was much the product of the so-called Jeff Fisher Effect.
2. Philadelphia Eagles-Ezekiel Elliot, RB, Ohio State
Original Selection-Carson Wentz, QB, NDSU
The Cowboys running back, despite his off-field issues, has been one of the NFL's biggest talents through two years, and has the makings of an all time great. Behind a solid offensive line in Philly, he could do real damage.
3. San Diego Chargers-Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
Original Selection-Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
The Chargers keep their stud defensive end, as he has made them one of the most feared pass rushes in the NFL. Although there are other star players still available, the Chargers have no choice but to keep the centerpiece of their defense.
4. Dallas Cowboys-Jared Goff, QB, California
Original Selection-Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Ohio State
With Elliott off the board, the Cowboys snag their quarterback of the future in Jared Goff. Its hard to say how good Goff would be without the tutelage of Sean McVay, but its safe to say he could fill the shoes of Dak Prescott's game management.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars-Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State
Original Selection-Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State
It must be nearly impossible for the Jags to pass on Ramsey, arguably the best corner in the NFL, and the cornerstone of their elite defense, but if a franchise has a chance at a franchise quarterback, they have no choice but to take it. Prescott would slot in nicely with Leonard Fournette, Allen Robinson, and Marquise Lee on the offensive side as well.
6. Baltimore Ravens-Jalen Ramsey, CB, Florida State
Original Selection-Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame
Ramsey, as stated above, is just too good to pass up, and could very well go number one overall in a draft not as stacked as this one. Sadly for him, he falls all the way to number six as the final selection in my re-draft, although he will be the centerpiece of a resurgent Baltimore secondary.
