200$ laptop?! Is this a blessing in disguise?

I'm poor, you're poor but this laptop is good for poor kids

200$ laptop?! Is this a blessing in disguise?

Now if you’re like me, and on a college budget looking for a small laptop to bring around school but don’t want to get a chromebook due to the lack of programs you can actually use because of the operating system. Asus is a reliable brand for laptops and desktops. I have an older Asus laptop, its about 15.6 inches and its heavier but it does have more hard drive storage space. The model I have, has about 1 terabyte of storage total, so about 500 GB in each drive.

Now the newest laptop I have is the Asus E200HA Vivobook laptop. For 199$ on amazon it is a pretty solid deal. The specs on the laptop is as follows:

11.6 inch screen in diameter

4GB of Ram

32GB of storage (but it can be expandable using micro SD cards)

2.2 Lbs

1.44 GHz processor

Windows 10 OS

2 USB 2.0 ports

1 Mini HDMI port

1 Headphone jack port

1 charging port

1366 x 768 Resolution

These are the most common specs people look for when it comes to buying a laptop or notebook. I have had this laptop for about a few days now, and I have got to say that I love it.

The keyboard is a full-size keyboard, it has a very comfortable feel, and the trackpad is huge basically comparable to any macbook that you see. The aesthetic of the laptop is nice too, I have one in Aurora Gold. It’s pretty fast for web browsing and perfect for streaming sites such as Netflix, Youtube, blogging sites and other social media platform. It’s small and compact but it doesn’t diminish the qualities of a good laptop. It fits in really nice in a smaller bag or purse. The battery life on this laptop is pretty great, it can go at least 6-8 hours with moderate use. The speakers are decent, not the greatest because its placed underneath the laptop but its Bluetooth enabled so you can sync it to any Bluetooth speaker you have. The track pad is really good with the multi-touch function. Use two fingers and you can scroll up and down the pages with ease, use 3 fingers and you can switch between programs and with the one finger has pretty smooth movement. Overall if you are a windows user looking for a laptop that’s not a chromebook or not a tablet w/keyboard then this is the one for you. You can’t find many good quality laptops or chromebooks for that matter for 200$ or less.

Although the ram isn’t upgradeable, this is perfect if you’re doing online classes and just need a reliable piece of tech to go with you everywhere especially if you commute to school on public transportation. If you need more storage I suggest buying a mini SD card that is about 64GB or more depending on your preference and use. Mini SD cards are pretty cheap nowadays, and if you need even more storage or have something go between back and forth your main laptop/desktop to the smaller one, you can always get an external hard drive. I got a 2TB external portable hard drive for about 80$. The SD cards depend on the brand and storage space but you can get some with lots of storage for about 100$ or less.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
