Every ambitious child's goal and senior's frenemy: the "Advanced Placement" course. Thousands of students sign up for AP classes every year with the same belief that it couldn't possibly be harder than the classes they are already in. I was one of those students, a student who neglected to let the meaning of the word "advanced" have any impact whatsoever on her decision making process when choosing her classes. AP Literature and Composition and AP U.S. History were definitely harder than I anticipated (much harder than I anticipated), but I can't say I regret taking them. For next year's batch of APers (or for last year's recovering survivors), here's 20 times Drake and Josh accurately described the class (tortue) you're willingly signing up for.
1. When you tell your parents you're signing up for an AP class
2. But your friends are ... skeptical
3. Everything is fine until you get your syllabi in the beginning of the year...
4. ... but you buckle down and start studying anyway
5. How you inevitably feel about College Board and AP in general
6. You feel so smart writing your fancy thesis statements
7. Until you get the corrections back and realize what level you're really on
8. Who cares if College Board doesn't like how you construct an essay?
9. Before you know it, test day is around the corner
10. And this is you
11. And your accumulated knowledge to this point
12. You're anxious and snapping at everyone
13. Until you realize one very important point and just go in to get it over with
14. Filling in those little bubbles is torture
15. But you're pretty sure your essay had some ground-breaking insights
16. When you hear classmates talking about the short answers you answered VERY differently
17. You're going crazy waiting for July to come
18. When the day finally arrives, you're prepared for the worst...
19. ...until you see your scores and you realize it was all worth it
20. ...or not so much...
