I may not be old and wise yet, but I've still learned a lot.

By the age of twenty, you feel like you’ve learned so much in life. You feel kind of wise and old, like you are able to give advice to younger people. Well, we may be older and wiser than we were a year ago, but we don’t know everything there is to know quite yet. I may not know everything, but here are some things I have learned so far that I think everyone should remember:

1. Time heals everything.

2. With that being said, everyone heals differently, so don’t judge.

3. It doesn’t matter how many friends you have, but the kinds of friends you have.

4. Nothing is ever just handed to you, you have to work for it, and you have to earn it.

5. It’s okay to waste a day laying in bed binge watching Netflix while you're sad--sometimes you just need to.

6. Some people are going to be better at things than you. That’s just how it is.

7. It's okay to be wrong.

8. High school love either works out or it falls to pieces, but either way, it teaches you a lesson.

9. Not everyone you meet in life is going to like you.

10. If a person can’t accept you for who you are and your past then they aren’t worthy of being in your future.

11. Having your heart broken is one of the worst feelings in the world.

12. It’s okay to not know where you want your life to take you by the end of college.

13. Set goals that will inspire you, not discourage you.

14. It’s better to have loved someone and lose them than to have never loved at all.

15. People make mistakes. You can forgive them but it’s okay if you can’t forget.

16. With that, own up to your mistakes. How do you expect people to forgive you when you can’t admit it?

17. Everyone is different, and everyone has a place in this world with a story behind them, the world doesn’t revolve around you.

18. The longer you fake happiness and say you are fine, the longer it’ll take to truly be happy.

19. If you want to love someone and be happy with them you have to first love yourself and be happy alone.

20. Finally, it’s important to travel the world and go places you wouldn’t imagine you’d go, because that’s how you learn who you really are and how truly lucky you are to be alive.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
