There is a lot of pressure to have things figured out for yourself once you're on your own. As a high schooler, you thought you pretty much had things together and would never have guessed that you would feel otherwise anytime soon. Especially not once you were 20 years old. You always thought that 20 was so old and it wasn't until you actually turned 20 that you realized that was completely false. The good news is you have way more life ahead of you than you probably realize. You have so much time left in your life that you really don't need to know a whole lot about living it at this point.

The following are a few things that you may feel pressured to know at this age, but really don't need to (because a little reassurance that you're doing well as you are is never unnecessary):

1. You don't need to know exactly what you want to do with the rest of your life.

2. You don't need to know where you will be in 10 years.

3. You don't need to know where you will be in five years, for that matter.

4. You don't need to have a "settling down" plan.

5. You don't need to know who you want to marry.

6. There is absolutely no reason you should feel like you have to know everything about yourself.

7. You don't have to know how to cook a new meal for yourself every night.

8. You don't have to know about everything that is going on at home.

9. You don't have to know how to hand wash nice clothes correctly.

10. You don't need to know everyone in your potential job industry.

11. You don't need to know the best way to dress for every event.

12. You don't have to know how to be the perfect significant other, or even the perfect friend.

13. You don't need to know everyone else's personal business.

14. You don't need to know exactly how everything that is going on in your life fits together.

15. You don't have to know how or why certain things happen to you, just that they have a purpose.

16. You don't have to know where you want your future home to be, or what it should look like.

17. You don't need to know how many kids you want or where they should go to school.

18. You don't need to know what you're eating for breakfast tomorrow.

19. You don't need to know what your wedding dress should look like or who your bridesmaids should be.

20. And one thing you really really don't need to know at 20 years old is how to do everything on your own. The truth is, you never really will.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
