With the stress of everyday life, it is easy to get bogged down with ungratefulness. There are plenty of big things to appreciate, but sometimes, even the small things in life will make you smile.

Without further ado, here are 20 small things to be grateful for.

1. Sunrises/sunsets

The perfect beginning and end to even the hardest of days.

2. A hot shower

To wash away all of the grossness.

3. Toilet paper

Self-explanatory.

4. Good hair days

Good hair days are a blessing from God.

5. When someone opens the door for you

It just warms my heart when someone opens/holds the door for me.

6. Sunny days

Basking out in the sun during the summer is amazing.

7. Thank you notes

I personally hoard letters, so I love receiving 'thank you' notes.

8. Not having to set an alarm on the weekends

Sleeping in = best thing EVER.

9. Sharing someone's taste in music

This is especially important when your music taste is a tad "weird."

10. A great pair of jeans

You know, the ones that fit you just right and are so comfortable.

11. Popcorn

The perfect snack for movies.

12. Long weekends

Perfect for catching up on sleep or going on a mini-vacation.

13. The cold side of a pillow

For those nights when you are burning up.

14. Coffee/tea

The perfect pick-me-up for early mornings or a mid-afternoon.

15. Spell checker

When do I use i-before-e?

16. Bubble baths

Sometimes it is nice to just sit in warm water and relax.

17. Cute phone wallpapers

It is always fun to look at a cute wallpaper every time you're on your phone (which is a lot!).

18. Ice Cream

Ice cream is cheaper than therapy.

19. Skype/FaceTime

Being able to see a person's face AND talk to them at the same time is seriously SO COOL.

20. 'Just Because' gifts

I love it when someone says they saw something and bought it for me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
