1. You're used to getting stuck behind tractors and other farming equipment

It only ever happens when you're in a hurry!

2. When people ask where you're from, you're used to naming the nearest city

No one ever knows where your hometown is

3. It's totally normal for you to drive 15-20 minutes away to eat at an actual restaurant

Because the only places to eat close to home are bars

4. But you have a special appreciation for bar food

There's nothing better!

5. A fun night out consists of walking around the nearest Walmart or Target

Which is at least 15 minutes away

6. You can't wrap your head around people who graduate high school in a class of 300

Because yours was 150, max.

7. And the thought of having to walk upstairs for class is crazy

Until you move away for college and realize that it's normal!

8. Your teachers only knew who you were because of your older siblings

Or your younger siblings, if you're extra lucky.

9. You gave directions based on the only stoplight in town

And it was nearly impossible to get lost.

10. Friday might as well be a holiday during high school football season

It's the only sport that you're entire town cared about

11. Driving in a busy city will always scare you a little bit

Because they drive like crazy people

12. The local playground was the place to hang out in middle school

Because obviously there was nowhere else to go

13. The first day of hunting season might as well be a holiday

Because you always had the day off school

14. At least 50% of your high school parties were at a bonfire

It didn't matter what time of year it was

15. Getting a new kid at school was a HUGE deal

Actually, anything new was a big deal

16. Getting a new chain restaurant anywhere within 10 miles was a big deal

Speaking of getting anything new

17. You lived for your town's festival

Even though it was boring compared to the neighbor town's

18. Everyone knows everyone's business

Gossip is a huge part of your town

19. You'll always complain about growing up in such a small town

Because it really sucked sometimes

20. But you'll always secretly love it

It really was the best place to grow up

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
