A lot of college students return to their hometowns during semester break.

Many people, myself included, sit around wondering what to do. If you're one of those people, try to check these twenty things off your "Semester Break Bucketlist!"

1. Visit a friend at a different college campus.

While you're still in college, try to visit as many other campuses as you can. This semester break would be the perfect opportunity to visit a friend at their college!

2. Do volunteer work.

Volunteering is extremely rewarding. Taking some time out of your break to help those in need could really be what YOU need.

3. Act like a little kid again.

During my freshman year, some of my friends and I had a GIANT snowball fight and made snowmen in the middle of the night. It was so fun and was a great way to step away from the stress of college.

4. Go to a local tourist town.

Spending time in a local tourist town (like Frankenmuth if you're from Michigan like me) is a good way to escape the "real world" for a day!

5. Get a one-month membership to a gym in your hometown.

Spend the break trying to lose that "Freshman 15" you may have gained... Or just use the membership to get free massage beds and tanning.

6. Study abroad or participate in alternative breaks.

Personally, this is one I haven't done yet -- but I will one day! Get away from your college's campus this break by studying in a new place or taking an alternative break.

7. Learn how to cook new meals.

Eating the same cafeteria food over and over (for four-plus years) can get extremely boring... Learn to make something new over the break and surprise your roommates by making it for them when you get back!

9. Read a book that isn't required for a class.

You've probably done a TON of textbook reading in the last few months. Why not pick up a book you'd like to read leisurely?

10. Binge-watch a new TV series.

OK, you were probably going to do this one anyway -- but why not make it one of your bucket list items this semester break?

11. Go on a mini-shopping spree.

With all of the post-Christmas sales, you can probably score some great stuff pretty cheaply! Treat yourself!

12. Throw a party with all of your old high school friends.

It'll be great to catch-up with people you haven't seen since college started.

13. Prepare for next semester's classes.

Nobody really WANTS to do this one, but you should. If you prepare for your classes ahead of time, you'll be WAY less stressed when they actually start.

14. Go to a concert.

When you go back to college, you'll get to tell everyone about the bands you saw!

15. Find an organization on campus to join.

Joining organizations on campus is extremely rewarding and will help you get yourself more involved on campus!

16. Dye your hair.

There isn't a better time to try out a new hair color. Worst comes to worst, you can re-dye it before going back to college if you don't like it!

17. Pull a non-academic all-nighter.

How many all-nighters did you pull to work on assignments? Well, pull one while just relaxing or having some fun!

18. Work at your old part-time job.

Since you're probably a broke college student by now, you'll love a little extra cash!

19. Go on a date.

I mean, semester break DOES take place during "cuffing season"...

20. Take some time to just relax for a while.

Go ahead, relax. You deserve it!

What are YOU going to do during your semester break?

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
