20 Questions I Have For Cleveland State University
Learn And Get It

I am currently in my fourth semester at Cleveland State University studying Early Childhood Education and Theater. While I love where I go to school, I have a lot of questions that I need some answers too.

1. Why do we only have one dining hall?

2. Why isn't Fenn Shoppe open on the weekends?

3. Why is Chili's only open until 10 p.m. on the weekends?

4. Why can't residents scan in at the side doors instead of walking all the way around?

5. What's with floor two of Euclid Commons having a random section of hardwood floor?

6. Why don't the main stairs in MC go to the fourth floor?

7. Why isn't the rec open 24 hours?

8. Who decided that we needed a new engineering building when the old one was just fine? (Some majors don't even have a building.)

9. WHY IS THE WIFI SO TERRIBLE?

10. What happened to the omelette-guy in the dining hall and can we get him back?

11. Why don't you advertise the arts more? The Cauldron , Romeo and Juliette, A Street Car Named Desire, all things happening this upcoming semester, but no one says anything.

12. Why don't you offer hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries, and pizza every day in the dining hall?? It should be a reserved section!

13. Why don't we have more places to spend dining dollars on the weekends? Chili's is great... but not that often.

14. Why does President Berkman use tuition to get a new house big enough to "entertain" people?

15. How come I pay $300 a semester for a parking pass, and I'm still NOT guaranteed a spot?

16. I get the "you can't check guests in between 2-6 a.m." rule if someone is highly intoxicated, but if I'm fine and want someone to come over during those hours, what's the issue?

17. Why can't people who live in Euclid scan into Fenn and vise versa?

18. Why are my education classes in the Urban Affairs building when there are empty classrooms in Main Classroom?

19. Why don't we have a fall break?

20. Why does it cost the same amount of money to stay over winter break (5 weeks) as it is spring break (1 week) — both are about $650.

I know this list might make it seem like I don't love CSU, but I do. I just needed to express my confusion on some important matters.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
