If you're like me, horror movies are your favorite kind of movie. There is something so thrilling about them. Maybe it's the suspenseful music. Maybe it's just the ridiculousness of some of the plotlines that keep me intrigued. I don't have a straight answer for you, other than the fact that I absolutely love them. Here's a list of 20 horror movies every horror fan needs to see!
1. "It" (2017)
Granted, I've never seen the original, but this movie was one of the greatest scary movies all time. Plus, a special shout out to the kid actors in this movie...geniuses!
2. "The Blair Witch Project" (1999)
3. "The Conjuring" (2013)
Scary movies don't usually get my heart racing. I don't normally close my eyes during scary movies, either. But I did both of those things with this one.
4. "It Follows" (2015)
I will admit, it's a little on the strange side and has a very open-ended ending, but it gets major points for originality.
5. "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (2013)
Although the original is good, too, I prefer the remake. Most scary movies are unrealistic, but the remake is much more realistic than the original, which makes it that much scarier.
6. "Halloween" (1978)
The entire series of Halloween movies are great (with the exception of "Halloween III: Season of the Witch." I have no idea what happened with that movie but 0/10 recommend).
7. "Carrie" (1976)
8. "House of Wax" (2005)
As you can probably tell, I have a thing for re-makes. In most cases, originals are better than the remakes, but I find that to be quite the opposite with horror movies. Hello better CGI and makeup techniques! (Plus, looking at Chad Michael Murray for an hour and a half really isn't a bad deal).
9. "The Shining" (1980)
10. "Aliens" (1986)
"Get away from her you bitch!" ICONIC.
11. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974)
I should probably mention that this one would be number one on my "most gruesome horror movies of all time" list.
12."The Ring" (2002)
13. "A Quiet Place" (2018)
14. "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997)
This probably constitutes as more of a "thriller" but it's still good.
15. "Darkness Falls" (2003)
First movie to ever give me nightmares as a kid. Don't show it to children; they'll be terrified of the Tooth Fairy forever.
16. "Thirteen Ghosts" (2001)
17. "Orphan" (2009)
Plot twist ending, that's all I'm going to say.
18. "Get Out" (2017)
19. "Scream" (1996)
20. "Hush" (2016)
I never thought a movie with only two characters could be so good.
