Does the current political climate bother you? It does me. Many times, we hear our parents say that we should follow in their beliefs that one party is better than the other. Is it the truth no. we all are human, we all bleed red, and we all put our pants on one leg at a time.

This current system that was built was not to serve us but to control us. Over this last presidential election, I was told that my vote was wasted because I was not voting Democratic or Republican. Why was my vote a waste? I was told that it because I was not falling into line with what my peers wanted.

I was also told that I could not get help with running for City Council. Sam the city council president at the time told me that he could not help me because I did not fit their program.

This is not okay to say that my choice is a waste. It’s not okay to make someone’s choice for them. The Republican and Democratic parties believe that they’re the only party out there and that’s not true. We have many parties out there. We have other options which include these independent movements.

Grassroots movement/organization

Progressive Party

Libertarian Party

Independent

Here are three major things that I see wrong with the current political systems:

  • Your vote is not important unless you vote Democratic or
  • There are only two parties that matter.
  • You won’t be able to run or be taught unless you fall under a Label of progressive Democratic or a right-wing Republican.

Republican parties.

So how do we change this?

  • Quit following “status quo.”
  • Educate yourself on what candidates that best go with your belief systems.
  • Teach people how you replicate your system on educating themselves.

Just because people tell you that you “have” to fallow the ebb and flow of things, does not mean you should.

What is the one thing that our Government can’t take away from us? Our knowledge.

With all this being said I encourage you to stand for your beliefs and have your voice. You are important, you are smart and most of all you have a kick-ass smile. You got this!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
