19 Things Dads Don't Get Enough Credit For

Dads' have a way of being so awesome, that sometimes we forget all that they do for us. They never ask for credit, they just continue their amazing job at being a father, and may even let mom take the credit. Here are 19 things that dad does without question, but may not get as many “thank you's” as he should:

1. Driving you literally everywhere

Whether he drives you to school, ballet class, practice, your doctor appointments, or a friend's house, he’s the best chauffeur around. When in doubt, call dad for a ride. I can guarantee you he will not mind, especially if you’re waiting or in trouble.

2. Paying the bills

Don’t forget that mom also helps with this one. However, dad certainly puts a roof over your head, and makes sure you are comfortable when it comes to living.

3. Not screaming over a sports game

The anger from his favorite sports team losing can be hard when your around. He might want to let out a foul word but with you as his witness, he won’t expose you to that kind of language, because he knows for sure you’ll repeat it.

4. Cooking

He even goes the extra mile to the store downtown because your favorite macaroni is sold there. Plus, when you don’t finish it all, he’s right there finishing up the rest. I bet he did the dishes and cleaned up after you too.

5. Hosting daddy-daughter dates

In your lifetime, when you weren’t at the zoo or at the playground, you and your dad have most likely played dress up with all the princess dresses and all the Barbie dolls. Oh, and let’s not forget about the tea parties!

6. Taking you to concerts

Even if it was going to see One Direction, or one of his old-school bands, it still spent you two got to spend time together listening to great music. It may not be the first thing to tell your friends about, but you still appreciate dad taking you.

7. Trying to stay calm after a boy breaks your heart

Believe it; it was impossible for him to keep his cool after that. You’re probably still shock he didn’t break the boy’s arms by now.

8. Being your No. 1 fan

All those recitals you made him sit through, the shopping trips where he had to help you decide what color shirt you look best in, dad was always the first at your events and will support every decision you make.

9. Letting you use his car

It can be hard enough to accept the fact that you can get your hands behind a wheel, but it’s very difficult to let you take the car, so thank him when you arrive at home safely.

10. Giving you money for YOUR events

It is always dad’s wallet that ends up opening first when you need something. It could be for a snow cone at a baseball game, a gift you have to get mom, and so on. Whatever it was for, it most likely was something you couldn’t afford, but could after dad pitched in.

11. Letting you eat the last cookie

Even the ones that mom didn’t know about before she got home from work. He worked all day and deserved some dessert, but the smile on your face was all worth not having the extra sweets.

12. Yard work

You probably didn’t notice how much lawn and outside work your dad does to make the house look pretty. Especially if prom pictures were going to be at YOUR house.

13. Killing all the spiders you don’t have the guts to

There were too many to count, but some of them were a little bigger than you could handle. Thank him for the protection!

14. Taking care of your pets

Remember when you promised YOU would clean the new kitty’s litter box, or take the new dog for a walk? How long did that last?

15. Letting you go far away for college

When it comes down to tough decisions, dad had a hard time letting go. As much as he tried to joke with you and say things like “I get the TV to myself now!” he meant it when he said he is glad to have you home.

16. Being your own personal mechanic

I can guarantee you, dads' may have a lot of tasks, but somehow they manage to put together every toy you ever first had, fixing the electricity when the power went out, and making sure you can watch the same Disney movie one hundred times by setting up the DVD player.

17. Cleaning up your messes

All those times you got sick on the carpet, spilled your milk all over the kitchen table, or all the paint stains you left on the wall, dad was the one to clean it up.

18. Making your mom happy

Your dad is the king in the family, but he won’t stop treating your mom like a queen and you as his little princess. He even makes her happy when you broke her favorite Christmas decoration.

19. Loving you more than you know

Whether you see it or not, your dad is and always will be there to catch you when you fall, and love you when you feel the world doesn't.

So, special shout-out to all you dads' out there. Your work never goes unappreciated and unnoticed. We thank you for being our first love and our forever friend. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. We love you!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
