I know it is a common theme with sisters, especially when they are close in age, to consider each other best friends. Best friends in a different sense than with that of other friends in certain ways. Such as the fact there are no filters when it comes to your relationship because you do not always mind hurting their feelings. Something about growing up together and spending too much time together, whether you liked it or not.
There really is a special bond that comes with throwing things at each other, hitting, kicking, stealing each other’s clothing, yelling, screaming, crying, etc. but also laughing, crying because you’re laughing so hard, sharing clothes, hugging, crying for each other, screaming with joy, family activities, traveling, partying, gossiping, joking, etc.
There is something extra special about the decade plus years (or maybe more) that you have spent with your sibling that makes those inside jokes even funnier and somewhat more special… especially when they have lasted all those years and through a lot. They drive you crazy but you are so crazy in love. There is no other feeling that can come close to the complete utter misery and complete utter joy when you spend too much time together. So contradictory, yet sisters who are best friends will completely understand.
So, in honor of my sister’s recent 19th birthday, here are 19 feels for your best friend and sister.
1. When you are in disbelief that your parents could conceive your best friend and soulmate and you are so thankful that you instead did not end up with a serial killer or psychopath
2. You can glance across the room and spot each other and know exactly what each other is thinking
“ABORT, ABORT,” us at every party, at the same exact time.
3. You don’t even have to say something is a secret, this is obvious, but will also be used against them when the time comes
“But remember that one time you…” This statement is always used when trying to get your way or get away with something.
4. They annoy you probably more than anyone in the world
5. AND the feeling is 100% mutual
Some call this unconditional love.
6. You call them out no matter what. No filter, no censorship
This is honestly helpful 9/10 times.
7. You know every single thing that annoys them
So either you annoy them with those things or you know exactly when someone does something that will. And this is actually one of the many of my sister’s pet peeves.
8. You have your songs that you duet every time you’re together
Ours is high school musical. And Hamilton. And Mama Mia. And many more.
9. You compliment each other all the time and think each other is the cutest, smartest, coolest human being.
10. However, you’re not amused when they tell you what is wrong with you. When they do this you will dish it right back
11. You don’t want anyone to know what you two do behind closed doors
12. You can make each other change their mind and mood in a quarter of a second
Especially if someone is mad, there is usually a major make-up in the next two minutes. Whether forced or not.
13. They are your go-to when you are on the verge of a mental breakdown. Oh, and they understand entirely
They are actually probably the reason why you are not a serial killer or psychopath…
14. She’s the only person you can take a million selfies with comfortably without feeling conceited
Hey, gotta get the perfect one.
15. Sometimes they tell you thoughts or feelings that you cannot help but think that you should probably tell Mom about this
16. You feel like you are basically the same person a lot of the time
Like, literally. More so than friends because you share the same DNA.
17. Because of this, you stick up for each other in front of your parents, other family members, and friends
Because you’re both crazy, so who cares?
18. Whenever you are together you do not leave each other's side
This means sleepovers every night.
19. Lastly, reuniting is like nothing anyone has ever seen before
Overall, you are both always supporting each other every step of the way and are each other’s biggest fans.
Cheers to many more decades to come.
