Lizzie McGuire was my absolute favorite character when I was younger. Now that I'm a little older, I can really appreciate who she was, what she stood for, and the things she learned from her experiences. She helped me through life back then and she continues to be relevant in my life today because let's face it; there's no role model quite like Lizzie McGuire.

1. Naps and food are the way to go.

Sometimes you just need a break from everything.

2. Life can be overwhelming.

Balancing school, sleep, and a social life can be pretty difficult.

3. But it can also be fabulous.

There are so many more memories left to be had.

4. It's important to figure out who you are.

Never was- and never will be- the cheerleader type.

5. And with the help of your friends, you'll be able to figure it out.

All two of you; a little support is all you need.

6. Learn to trust yourself.

Your ideas are important and worthy of being heard.

7. The world is full of Kate's.

The girl world is surrounded by mean girls.

8. You just gotta stay away from them.

Even if it feels like you can't escape them.

9. Because you're so much better than that, girl.

Real friends won't treat you like that. Find them. You owe it to yourself.

10. Be thankful your brother is less devious than Matt.

They set the bar pretty low on this one.

11. Boys. Suck.

Even though love is the best, heartbreak is the absolute worst.

12. But cookies don't.

Cookies never disappoint.

13. Strive for self-confidence.

Others will notice when you start to believe in yourself.

14. Every girl needs a Gordo.

I'm lucky enough to have found my very own Gordo and it has made all the difference.

15. Singing in your bedroom fixes all of your problems.

Hairbrush and all. We've all been there.

16. It's okay to be afraid.

Scary experiences are always the most rewarding.

17. But you might just surprise yourself.

A little bit of perseverance and a lot of hope can go a long way.

18. Above all else, love the crazy people who support you everyday.

Forever grateful for my crazy people; don't know what I would do without you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
