You are my person.

18 Things I Forgot To Thank My Best Friend For
Paige Roadruck

I think Christina Yang said it best about Meredith Grey when she said, “If I murdered someone, she’s the person I’d call to help me drag the corpse across the living room floor. She’s my person.” Here’s to my person, because I don’t thank you hardly enough.

1. Thank you for obnoxiously singing during car rides with me.

No matter where we are headed, thank you for screaming at the top of your lungs with me. Nothing better than driving around, windows down, music up. More importantly...

2. Thank you for knowing exactly what songs to put on when given the aux.

Thank you for knowing what to sing at the top of your lungs with me. “The First Cut Is the Deepest,” and, “She Belongs to the Game,” wouldn’t be the same without you. I will forever immediately think of our late night drives when those come on shuffle.

3. Thank you for being my personal photographer.

Thank you for driving all around Indiana to have mini photoshoots all the time. You keep my Instagram and VSCO on it!!

4. Thank you for helping me pick captions for the pictures you took of me.

An Instagram post is nothing without a fire caption. Thank you for always picking the perfect sassy caption to go along with any one of my selfies. I probably wouldn’t have any followers without your hard work.. lol.

5. Thank you for never turning down a new adventure with me.

Thank you for making 2 am trips with me. Or 10 am trips to get out of Indiana for the day with me. Whatever it may be, you never turn down making some more memories together!

6. Thank you for not friending the girl who did me wrong, even though she did nothing to you.

Tell me again she ain’t loyal…

7. Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on, literally.

Throwback to the night I called you crying at midnight and your immediate response was, “my front door is unlocked. Come over.” Thank you for still being my best friend even though I am hands down the ugliest crier in the world. I’m sorry I cried all over your favorite blanket.

8. Thank you for being my personal stylist.

It’s no secret you have the better wardrobe out of us, so thank you for letting me raid your closet at any given time. Thank you for picking out my outfits before first dates, for a night out, and just in the happenstance, I run into a certain someone.

9. For hyping me up no matter the circumstances.

Thank you for boosting my confidence to another level when I need it most. You constantly push me to go outside of my comfort zone and make me feel like I am capable of achieving anything. If it weren’t for you, I would never change my old ways. Thank God for change, and thank God for you.

Thank you for not letting any boy bring me down. “He is very dreamy, but he is not the sun. You are.”

And you also blow up my Instagram with 10 comments per selfie. Very important qualities in a friend.

10. Thank you for dying my hair in the middle of the night when I needed a dramatic change.. lol.

He liked my hair light, so you took me to Walmart at 1 am for hair dye and dyed my hair jet black.

11. Thank you for threatening to dig your key into the side of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive to the boy who was mean to me.

Thank you for not doing this mostly though, because you would be in jail right now. And I don’t even have enough money in my bank account to Venmo you for something off the McDonald’s dollar menu, right now. Let alone bailing you out of jail...

12. Better yet, thanks for almost doing it once or twice. ;)

I’m just going to leave that there. (Insert frog and cup of tea).

13. Thanks for telling me the things I can’t admit to myself.

Thank you for always giving me the advice I need to hear as compared to the advice I want to hear. It’s not always easy but you always give it to me straight.

But you never say, “I told you so,” when I forget to take that advice.

14. Thank you for making me follow my heart, not my head when I am at war between the two.

In those, “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situations, you help me see it a little clearer.

15. Thank you for knowing when I am sad or upset before I even have to tell you myself.

Her: *texts me funny story*

Me: * “omg, that’s so funny.”

Her: “What’s wrong?”

16. Thank you for making me get the gym membership.

I’m sorry I put you on my Snapchat story every workout sesh and called you, “Satan.” Thank you for giving me the motivation to better myself. You ensure I eventually hit my glow up.

17. Thank you for helping me plan my wedding, even though I still haven’t found the one.

Thank you for supporting me wanting to walk down the aisle to, “Bodak Yellow” and my unrealistic wedding dress.

18. Thank you for also offering me to live in your basement with you and your husband one day.

Everyone is out here getting married or engaged, and I can’t even get a match on Tinder. So we might have to hold off on those wedding plans. Thank you for not making me live with my parents until I am thirty. I will babysit, (or preferably dog sit) for free any weekend.

Because I don’t thank you hardly enough for being my person.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
