17 Thoughts While Watching the Billboard Awards
Billboard

The music award show of the summer aired Sunday night and featured all of music’s most talented artists and musicians. Here are some thoughts that went through my mind as I tuned in …

1. “Wow, I’m still impressed by how much Britney got it together after her public downfall and meltdown. If she got through 2007, I can do anything!”

2. ”Abel, what is your hair though?”

3. “Omg yes Jojo! Can’t wait to watch your quest for love on the Bachelorette every Monday night this summer!”

4. “Yes Fifth Harmony! ‘Work from Home’ is such a jam and will never get old.”

5. “Meghan Trainor, your song may get annoying, but it is definitely catchy. Always respect a girl from the home state.”

6.”Ugh Thomas Rhett and his wife are actually goals. Definitely watched his music video for ‘Die a Happy Man’ too many times to actually admit.”

7.” Justin you’re too pretty and talented to hate. Embarrassingly wish I was among the shrieking girls in the audience. Don’t know if I like your new haircut though.”

8. “Pink you’re such a badass and I don’t understand how you manage to sing while upside down hanging from the ceiling, but you do you.”

9.”Nick, there’s no space between you and Tove Lo at the end of that performance.”

10. “Props to you, Demi, supporting transgender rights.”

11.”Blake and Gwen might now be in my top five favorite celebrity couples. Their chemistry is undeniable.”

12.”Adele’s new video is a little trippy. Not sure if I’m seeing it right or if my head is spinning.”

13.”So much respect for Kesha. After everything she has gone through she is still able to perform with grace and dignity.”

14.”I wish I had a quarter of the talent that Celine Dion has. Too many times have I belted out to her hits. Okay, now I’m crying, actually sobbing.”

15.”Wow, the Gogos still got the beat.”

16.”It’s only fitting they end the show with a tribute to Prince. Madonna may freak me out a little it (sorry, had to admit it), but she did do a really nice tribute to him and it is fitting that she was chosen for this. I’ll have to listen to ‘Purple Rain’ when this is over and admit it to my next Spotify playlist.”

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
